My Cell Phone Died
Or more accurately, I killed it … by dropping the damn thing into the foot basin during my pedicure today. I tried blowdrying it, but I wasn’t as lucky as CK’s boyfriend who salvaged my Powerbook frosh year with that method. And I have Verizon so I can’t just pop the SIM card into a new phone.
This is terrible timing, especially considering the number of people I’m supposed to see before I leave the city on Saturday. I’ve already missed three text messages, two phone calls, and one date because of my phone. Eep!
For those trying to get in touch, please email or IM me. I’ll be on a new phone (and in California) by Sunday.
On the bright side, my toes look cute?

You should Google a way to dry out the phone…I just read an article on this, I think you’re supposed to put the battery in rice. The details are fuzzy, but there are ways and means!

Ah — thanks for the advice but I think it’s a lost cause! It’s been over 24 hours and no luck. Will just have to suck it up until I get back to Los Angeles.

Take out the battery. If you have silica gel as used in packing, that can help. Rubbing alcohol is excellent–a blue dryer is good in that it can blow air ‘through’ the phone so as to make sure the moisture escapes but the heat can be too intense and might damage the phone more in other ways. Bla bla bla I guess too late for any help from me now. If you want tips on negotiation for things with VZW let me know.
