Christmas Wish List

It’s a snow day at Harvard. Perfect time to post all my materialistic wants.

Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones in Pink, $39.99

Cottyn “That’s What She Twittered” Tee in Small, $20

Body Jewelry for Navel or Nipple Piercing

Besides that, there’s not much I need or want, unless you want to buy me a 13-inch MacBook, a Nanette Lepore dress, or a Milly coat. Gift cards are always welcome, but just remember I don’t do Starbucks. Cece got me a card for LA Burdick last year. Other fave Harvard Square institutions include Henrietta’s Table, Cardullo’s, and Upstairs on the Square.

Threadless Hoodies on Sale for $25

Look, I’m really not a t-shirt kind of girl. Or a sweatshirt kind of girl. I still get shit for my freshman year comment that I wear CK’s clothes when I feel grungy (CK is the college best friend who’s black and female , not gay and white — that’s JB). Still, I feel compelled to buy large quantities of Threadless gear every time they email me a sale. Today’s no different. All hoodies on the website (typically $40) are marked down to $25 for the next 24 hours. (Sale ends 12:00 a.m. CST on Wednesday).

Three reasons why Threadless rocks:

1. Fantastic original designs (re: smart and irreverent without being crude). Clever taglines. All totally democratically chosen.

2. Great fit a la American Apparel.

3. Affordable prices! $10 t-shirt sales happen quite frequently. This $25 hoodie sale is pretty much making my week.

Currently, I’ve got my eye on the following designs:

Clockwise from top left: 1. Mourning Girl, 2. Take Me To Tokyo, 3. Stupid Cupid, 4. Damn Scientists

Unfortunately, I wasn’t kidding when I said I wasn’t a sweatshirt person. I definitely don’t need a hoodie in pink or red. So it’s looking like the black design. I’ll probably buy the t-shirt version of the others during the next sale.

Grab a few of your own. And if you use my link, I get StreetTeam points (kind of like frequent flyer miles … in 100% cotton form). You get my gratitude.

* Remember the sale ends TONIGHT at 12:00 a.m. CST

Fake Shopping

Sometimes I like to play a game with myself called “Fake Shopping” which involves picking out items I’d buy if I had a certain imaginary budget. Tonight, I was online looking for a yoga mat and ended up browsing shoes, foot spas, and other things that had nothing to do with yoga … so I started playing the game instead.

The budget was $250, approximately the amount of money I spent on rent, gas, food, etc. for my four-day trip to Mexico with eight friends. The items I pretend-bought:

1. Chooka Women’s Tiny Whales Rainboot in 7M, $48.95

2. Crescent Moon ‘St. Tropez’ Yoga and Pilates Mat Carrier, $49.99

3. Moe C.L.I.C.K. Bag in Anah, $187.00

You know you have a problem when you can’t even stick to an imaginary budget. But because the real world has budgets and I’m desperately broke, I only ended up getting the bare essentials below:

1. Bare Fruit Organic Dried Mangos, 2.6-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 24), $15.00

2. Gaiam Maxwell Yoga Mat Bag in Green, $17.62

3. Gaiam Printed Yoga Mat, $21.99

Already in my Currier mailbox should be ~$250 in compensation for summer freelance gigs, etc. so I can’t wait to get back on campus and do some actual shopping. I’m staking out the COOP for “Harvard”-emblazoned sweatpants.

Kate Spade Hudson Street Rudy

I want this.

On sale for $360, the price is certainly nice. But I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more Kate Spade after the Wellesley Quinn, which was like my fifth purchase. Also, I already own a white Kate Spade and right now, it’s holding my postcard correspondence … clearly, I don’t need more purses. But still. I want.

URGENT: Kate Spade Online Sample Sale

Filed under: Kate Spade, Recommendations, Shopping — Elle June 12, 2007 @ 12:40 pm

Get her while she’s hot. Kate Spade, my favorite accessories designer, is selling her wares for 65% off on her website. This is the link to the sample sale. You can’t beat these prices anywhere. The gems among the offerings:

Nylon Sam with Tab, $89
A classic and the only nylon Spade I own (I think the rest are uninspired)

Fulham Melanie, $169
Simple, understated, surprisingly affordable for a classy find.

Wellesley Quinn, $189
My favorite of the six Kate Spades I own. Grabbed it this spring just because it fit my 12″ Powerbook and magazines length-wise.

Foster’s Crossing Panel Cami, $257
I prefer this in white to black. Great shape, love the straps/gold hardware.
